Welcome back TOW families!

We hope it’s been a great first few days–we know the first week of school is filled with new routines, overwhelming amounts of information and high emotions. The Weekly Update should help. This weekly email is a joint communication from the TOW PTA and Principal Conlon, designed to make your life easier! It is emailed out each Thursday and includes a snapshot of the week ahead, plus details about all the great stuff going on at TOW. Read it, click through it, print it, post it at home! If you delete it, it’s always available on towpta.org. Plus, we’ll share it out on our new TOW PTA Facebook and TOW PTA Twitter sites (be sure to like and follow us!).

 

PRINCIPAL BLAST

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT IS WEDNESDAY

A night packed full of information from staff and teachers—don’t miss it. Visit the MPR throughout the night for activity info, spirit wear sales, and more. In order to get the most of our teacher presentations, we ask that you leave your children at home this evening.

Boys and Girls Club three branches are open until 8:30 on Back to School Night.  Please call the specific branch to make reservations.  $10 includes dinner.

Lang Park 715-7322;      TLC 494-7630;        Main Branch Canyon 494-2535.

Schedule:

  • Kindergarten parent meeting in the MPR at 5:30-5:50pm with classroom visits starting at 6:00pm
  • Grades 1 – 3 and CLC parent meeting in MPR at 6:00-6:20pm with classroom visits at 6:30pm
  • Grades 4 – 5 parent meeting in MPR at 6:45-7:05pm with classroom visit at 7:15pm
  • Evening ends at 8:00pm. The presentations will be similar so no need to try and attend multiple meetings.
PICTURE DAY

Picture day is Friday, Sept 16. Dress your best and bring your smile. No money needed on picture day. For details, visit www.sumnerphotography.net.

 

PTA ANNOUNCEMENTS

DO GOOD THINGS FOR KIDS – JOIN THE PTA!

We are up to 182 members and counting! Our goal is to have EVERY parent, caregiver and teacher at TOW become a member of the TOW PTA. For just $10 per family member, it’s an incredible way to show your support of the school! Meetings not required. 😉 Join today.

PTA MEETING

We look forward to seeing many of you at the first PTA meeting on Monday, Sept 12 at 8am in the MPR. We will get an update from Mr. Conlon on all that’s new and exciting at TOW, plus vote on the year’s budget and programs.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL BONANZA

The Back-to-School Bonanza is back for a second year on Friday, Sept 30! The Bonanza is an afternoon of good old-fashioned family fun, with inflatable slides, games, music, face painting, food trucks, and more,  designed to raise money for TOW! You won’t want to miss it. Details on pre-ordering your UNLIMITED FUN wristband to come.

AFTER-SCHOOL CLASSES

Registration for the Fall session of our after-school program opens Saturday, Sept 17 at 9am. Don’t miss out on new classes like drone building, STEM lab, filmmaking, and more! Session 1 begins on September 26 and runs through November 17. We’ll let you know as soon as classes are posted online for browsing–we are hoping to get our new registration system in place!

GARDEN NEWS

Want to Be a Garden Parent?

Sign ups will be going out in teacher classrooms at Back to School night next week, so please give it some thought and round up friends who might be fun to garden with in your respective classes.

Garden Orientation/Volunteer Meeting

Tuesday Sept 20th: 8-9:15am

Required meeting for all garden parents, new and returning, to talk about the upcoming year and get our hands dirty! You will also create a garden sign for your class.

Family Workday

Sunday Sept 25th: 8-12

Bring the kids and round up some friends with big muscles for an awesome morning tackling some bigger garden projects. This year we are building a new Compost Row, installing a second rain barrel & kinder garden dedication sign, topping off soil and more. This is an annual tradition and a great way to build our school community!

WHAT IS YOUR STORY?

We’ll kick off the annual Reflections art contest at tomorrow’s flag assembly—ask your child about it and look for more information in the weeks to come. Our goal this year is full school participation!
